What is Reiki?

Reiki is a natural healing method that was developed in the early 20th century in Japan. The word Reiki is a combination of two Japanese words: Rei and Ki. Rei means spiritual intelligence or supernatural force, Ki means life energy. In the Western world Reiki is mostly described as Universal life force energy, or Spiritually guided life force energy. The energy is channeled by a Reiki practitioner and goes to the places in the body where healing is most needed, deeper levels of a person’s being where illnesses have their origins. Reiki releases blocked energies, cleansing the body of toxins, relieving stress, alleviating pain and working to create a natural state of balance. Reiki reinforces the patient’s ability to take responsibility for their life, and also helps them to make the necessary changes in attitude and lifestyle to promote a happier and healthier life.

What Can Reiki Treat?

Reiki is beneficial in most cases of stress, tension, sinusitis, menstrual problems, cystitis, migraines, asthma, psoriasis, constipation, eczema, arthritis, menopausal, back pain, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and sciatica. Chronic ailments also respond well. I have experience in treating anxiety, depression, eating disorders and other mental health issues with Reiki, where I have witnessed profound results in both physical and emotional wellness and stability. Reiki is a great tonic, and if you are well, Reiki will help you to stay that way!

Benefits of Attuning to Reiki

As reiki begins to move into the next steps in our evolution, it starts to work on and break through our limiting beliefs and attitudes, thus increasing our ability to take responsibility for our lives and well-being. This ultimately helps us to reconnect with our latent power, intuition, and creativity.

Reiki is a powerful tool for both physical healing and for expanding our conscious understanding of life and the nature of reality. Reiki accelerates healing by supporting the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

Amma Traditional Japanese Massage

Amma is the word for massage in Japanese. This type of bodywork is based on the principles of Chinese medicine and is more than 5,000 years old. The Amma techniques involve pressing, stroking, stretching and percussive manipulations with the thumbs, fingers, arms, elbows, knees, and feet on acupressure points along the body’s 14 major meridians. Through the structure of Kata (choreographed movement), Amma utilizes rhythm, pacing, precision, and form in massage. Shiatsu was developed from the Amma tradition. From the viewpoint of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), amma massage assesses flow and harmony of the five essential substances: qi (energy), jing (essence), shen (spirit), xue (blood), and jin-ye (body fluids). Amma either stimulates or sedates depending on individual constitution. The aim is to restore and promote health through correction of the imbalances of an individual’s qi or meridian system. Amma massage therapy is effective in treatment of conditions including: Asthma/bronchitis, hypertension, arthritis, neuromuscular diseases, chronic fatigue syndrome, diabetes, chronic pain, sprains, and muscle strain. Amma increases circulation, improves flexibility of joints and soft tissue, enhances injury healing, circulates and drains lymphatic fluid, and strengthens the immune system through preventative treatment. Amma is not a specific massage technique, but rather a comprehensive combination of all forms of massage. Unlike Western massage, Amma uses no oils and can be done through clothing with the client either lying or sitting. This makes Amma a flexible style of massage suitable to a wide variety of client needs and environments.

Chair Massage

On-site chair massage is a highly effective technique that provides an immediate sense of vitality and well-being. The 15-30 minute treatment is a form of Japanese bodywork involving the application of palm and finger pressure to the neck, shoulders, back, arms, and scalp. This short treatment is applied through the clothing with the client sitting face-forward, fully supported in the massage chair. The chair, designed to support the client’s upper body and head, folds up and is therefore portable, allowing the therapist to bring it to the home or the workplace.
